Heads up info: Just read in AAA magazine, this new requirement for US citizens traveling (via Air or Sea) to Western Hemisphere. After December 31,2005, it stated that only a "Passport" will be accepted as identification, & will be required for the US travelers to be able to re-enter the US. (Only the terrorists don't need them

Starting December 31, 2006, "Passports" will be needed when returning from Air or Sea travel to & from Mexico & Canada.
Starting December 31, 2007 "Passports" will be needed for all Air, Sea & Land "border" crossings!
My wife & I just applied for our Passports, yesterday. Luckily we saw the new requirement, as we are going on a cruise to the Caribbean January 8th 2006.
