XMAS NATIVITY PLAY IS MOVED TO PLEASE MUSLIMS the AA grumpy column
hello again grumps here and im back fresh from horsing around in my last column
( we,ve done that joke already grumpy dont upset the R.S.P.C.A. > editors voice)
so heres tonights offering from the grumpy table of festivity
A SCHOOL has moved its nativity play to January to make way for Muslim Eid celebrations.
At first, parents thought the Christmas show had been scrapped altogether and complained to the head and governors.
Then they were told the play would be staged but not until the New Year.
With 363 pupils speaking 21 different languages, Greenwood Juniors in Sneinton, Nottingham, has a high intake of ethnic minority children.
Mum Janette Lynch, whose seven-year-old son Keanu attends the school, said: “It is the first year my son has been there and a lot of the mums like me were really looking forward to seeing the children in the nativity.
“I think it’s wrong it has been moved to after Christmas.’’
A first letter, sent from the “staff at Greenwood Junior School’’, said Christmas performances had been cancelled because they clashed with Eid celebrations.
It added that as many pupils wanted to celebrate the Muslim event with their families at home it made it “difficult to move performance dates’’.
A second letter sent by head teacher Amber Latif and chair of governors Yvonne Wright, said: “The Christmas performance has not been cancelled outright but has been postponed until the New Year.’’
Eid ul-Adha, or greater Eid, lasts for two or three days from the beginning of next week.
Sajad Hussain, 35, who has two children at the school, said: “My children will be off for the two days next week. It’s not that complicated. They could have one event on one day and another on another day. They should have both celebrations at the school.
“If you do not have both it becomes a racist thing and that’s why you have to be careful – if an issue is made out of it, it could become nasty.’’
A statement from staff said: “We represent a wide variety of faiths and due respect is given to each one appropriately.
“The next two weeks are brimming with festivities for both Eid and Christmas that the children are really looking forward to.’’

this is outrageous and another example of labour political correctness.
the school have said and i quote“If you do not have both it becomes a racist thing and that’s why you have to be careful – if an issue is made out of it, it could become nasty.
so who,s being racist the school is this is favouring one ethnic group over another.
this is appeasing the muslim community over our own xmas celebrations which is wrong.
both could be staged but the craven staff at greenwood junior school bow to their politcally correct masters and nottinghamshire county council.
imagine the uproar if xmas was favoured over Eid .
british christian parents should keep their children off school during the Eid celebrations in protest or boycott the play.
even the spine less labour loving daily star where this story originated have switched off their your shout feature where you can comment on a story for fear of the comments they will get.
