The years are going quickly now; my face and arms sure show it!
My brain is getting wrinkles too and this is how I know it:

I find I must be cautious now when stating things I know.
Though I am sure I'm right, I find, it isn't always so.

I put my keys right there, you see, but now it's time to leave,
They're gone!...and where they've vanished to I simply can't conceive.

I paid that bill!...of course I did! My mind's eye sees it still.
So why am I receiving now a "second-notice" bill?

That lady's name, I'm sure, is Claire; we met not long ago.
How come when someone calls her "Jane", she answers with "Hello"?

I have five kids (I'm sure of that)...all grown and on their way.
Their birthday cards I won't forget...but which one goes today?

My shopping list I craft with care; no bargain's ever missed.
I'm in the store; I have the cart; now where on earth's the list?

Computers are a joy to use; mine keeps me very busy
Until the moment of thecrash that gets me in a tizzy.
My kids have shown me many times just how to win that fight.
But though I try just what they taught, I seldom get it right.

My calendar is near the phone and easy, there, to see.
Each square has notes so I won't miss just where I'm s'posed to be.
So why am I now forced to call my oldest, dearest chum,
To say, with shame, that once again, "I just forgot to come."

There seems to be no end in sight to instances like these.
They spring so quickly from the mind and from my keyboard keys.
If I can list so easily the things Idon't recall,
Why then are there so many things I don't recall at all?
