The whole thing does stink. I do feel for the boy, and hopefully he will be thoroughly evaluated as he goes through this and gets the help that he needs.
As for the mother, if she is truly evil then eventually she will destroy herself. Hate does that. The prosecution apparently doesn't feel that they have enough evidence to hold her responsible or feel that she wasn't involved.
