No offence to you or your mother but I find the belief ridiculous. What kind of "father" turns his back and throws out most of his children. If god made all things and all mankind then I would be very wary of any mortal claims to know who is worthy. I would have thought the very fact that they would judge others as so unworthy would automatically get them excluded.
On the other hand I am a non believer so my opinion is perhaps simply wrong. Who knows? But I'm fairly sure it's not any would be religious leader.
