A German Shepherd would be an excellent choice. they are incredibly devoted to the safety of their family, and in particular of 'their' children.
the real solution to this problem is to put repeat criminal offenders behind bars, and throw away the key. sex offenders have an incredible, mind-boggling recidivism rate. it's time society stopped offering 'do overs' to these monsters. it happens over and over and over again - released sex offender kidnaps child, molests, kills. over and over. why do we put up with it? first offense is one thing - repeat offenses? NO NO NO! why was this man free?
