Re: Friend
I have three wonderful female friends and also a kind and loving husband. These 4 relationships are hard work, as I have to maintain them with my time and money. They have to do the same. You must keep in contact and be apart of their lives and visa versa. I'm never really convinced by 'oh, we haven't spoken for years, but I know if I ever needed her she would come to my aid, and when we talk its like we have never been apart' That's called catching up with each other. How can that be friendship if they have no feeling for your day to day reality.
One thing that has really struck me over the years though is the 'Kindness of Strangers'. I am amazed how people who know nothing about you will move heaven and earth to help you if they can.
Anyway, what I think I'm trying to say is when you do become friends with someone, it is important to remain in their lives, and become important to them. That's when the friendship will be returned.
