Russia plans pre-emptive strikes on terrorists; not clear if fight going abroad
MOSCOW (AP) - President Vladimir Putin said Friday that Russia is "seriously preparing" for pre-emptive strikes against terrorists, while Chechen insurgent leader Shamil Basayev claimed responsibility for a school hostage-taking and other attacks that have claimed more than 430 lives.

Can some one blame them? Did you hear about the details of the attacks (one school and two airliners)?

That attack on the school in Southern Russia was all over the TV, practically live, where I live. I've never known such a cold attack. They were an extremely professional [ wrong word to use about terrorists, but they had everything planned for months before.
They had smuggled the explosives into the school during the summer break, desguised as maintenance men. There were 20+ including suicide bombers. They were equipped with mines, grenades, machine guns and explosives. All this to use on schoolchildren! I have to say that the Russian special forces and soldiers were outstanding in their efforts, managing to save alot of kids. 13 terrorists escaped during the firefight which lasted hours and took refuge in a house in the south part of the town, but the Russian forces found them, taking one prisoner. The rest were killed. I would not call any attack on terrorists by Russia "pre-emptive" at this stage as Russia is becoming increasingly becoming under attack from terrorists recently. They have every right to fight back. Good luck to them and here's to Putin
