Diabetes
Anyone here diabetic? My husband is. Rice affects his blood sugar worse than anything. He also gets very cranky when it's up. I don't remeber my dad ever getting cranky from his, but it affects everyone differently.

Re: Diabetes
It's a symptom of hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar levels) that the sufferer may
appear drunk, confused, sleepy, irritable or aggressive. He will have a fast and strong pulse. This condition has a fast onset time. For hyperglycaemia, or having excessive (high) blood sugar, the symptoms are tiredness, thirst, a sweet smell on the breath, and a weak irregular pulse. In both cases, unconciousness may result. This is from memory of a rescue qualification I attained a number of years ago. Quite a number, in fact! |

Re: Diabetes
He was able to control his sugar with pills for a year or so but is now on the shots. For the most part, it works, but every now and then his sugar is up and me and the kids pretty well know it without him checking it. He gets cranky and we are like okay, check your sugar LOL.

Re: Diabetes
Amusing story--He once went to the doctor and told him my menopause was going to drive him insane. The doctor put him on Welbutrin. Once his sugar was under control, he realized it was hisself and not me with the problem. Kind of annoyed me that the doctor didn't even ask to see me, assumed it was me, and didn't check things out better.
Amazing how things like stress will raise blood sugar. He once went to break up a fight and it shot right up.
