Re: Education?

I thought maybe in with the kids and family stuff, there doesn't seem to be an area to discuss education, good or bad, in various countries.
Just a teachers thought...

Re: Education?

Yes, as a matter of choice in the alternative (hippyish/Green voting) households, and in isolated areas of course there is no choice. This is done by the Net, correspondence, and email now, it used to be done byradio, and was called ""School Of The Air""

As a substitute teacher I do believe education is tucked away in some government vault .......and not left to the person - the teacher who is trained - to give the gift of learning anymore.

We have REAL homeschooling here and their marks are much higher than regular schooled youngsters.........
Go figure

Re: Education?

""Real""? What does this mean?
It doesn't surprise me in the least. The Teachers Union here is a hide-bound group of Politicaly Correct Marxists who control most of what is taught, and who teaches it.
There is a massive move away from State schools and toward home schooling and private schools (where I teach) for just this reason.

Re: Education?

Hi Pete, and welcome to FG!! I think a forum specifically for education is a great idea. We have several full-time and substitute teachers here, and I'm surprised one of them hasn't thought of this already. As a mom, my son's high school and upcoming college education is of high interest to me, too. Great idea!!

Re: Education?

Hi, Baby Rider, and thanks for the welcome I hope it can be organised.
I only discovered recently, via the Net, that US kids start school at 8AM.
Here, with a 9AM start, try that, and you'd have a riot on your hands.
