Prohibition
Is it perhaps time to call it a day for prohibition on all drugs - hard and soft?
Would it not be better for the government to charge heavy duties on these substances entering the country, take a massive percentage of that revenue and pump it into advertisements promoting against taking these drugs? In the long run I think if they became more easily available, with the quality assured (By legitimate manufacturer's), there would in fact be less people taking them with the widespread advertisements (Because under this idea the more they consume - the more persuading the Government and pressure groups do to make it socially unacceptable) A nice unintended consequence is that it would benefit economies such as Afghanistan, Bolivia and Colombia Just a thought. |
