Hello. I'm new here. I love smileglobal so I thought I'd give the forums a go.

I'm a widow of 2 1/2 years. I have 3 children and we currently live in Texas. Although, it's usually warm here we've been having some cooler weather, which I love. My perfect temps are between 60-80 degrees!

Guess that's it for the main bits. I came here looking for answers to why my Yahoo groups aren't delivering mail like they should. Guess I'll go delve into that now.

Welcome.

My brief visit to Texas was luxurious! Loved the warm humidity. Love the accent too. Wish we could hear your posts as well as read them.

Re: newbie

This is the first time I've logged on to any kind of e-discussion. I've had a look at a couple of chat-rooms but I don't think they're for me. So using Google I entered 'discussion group' and Forum Garden came up (among others). It looks really good. I'd enjoy talking rather than chatting, if you follow me.

So you live in Texas - my son's girlfriend lives in San Antonio, and she came across to visit recently. I live in Wales, incidentally. I work in an office which is unremittingly boring, and I'd welsome the opportunity to discuss (nothing too heavy) but just to relate to like-minded people.

I've had a computer for about 18 months and I'm a total amateur on the web, so I hope this reaches you okay.

Re: newbie

Well, like I said we're living in Texas now. Not originally from this area, so although I may have a slight accent (been here for most of 10 years), it's not the heavy southern drawal you're probably talking about.

Thanks so much for the welcome! Seems like a friendly place.

Re: newbie

Well, good luck with the computer! They're fun. I don't normally communicate through forums, but thought I'd give it a shot here.

How did your son meet a girl in San Antonio? And what is Wales like?

Have a great day!

Are you talking centigrade or fahreinheit? I presume fahreinheit. Here it is about 4 degrees centigrade, seasonably warm for the time of year.

Oh, definitely fahreinheit!! lol.

We lived in Australia for a while and I never got the hang of centigrade.

Not to worry. I got my first TRS80 (Radio Shack's first computer) in 1977 and have had 19 more since. Sometimes I still feel like a novice.

Re: newbie

So where are you from originally, if you've been in Texas for only the past ten years? It's odd the preconceptions we have - I think of Texas as being hot and dry and flat savannah, with rough grass in occasional clumps and the cactus plants here and there.

I'm from Cardiff originally (in the east of Wales) but when I was five my family emigrated, in search of a better life. I had some family in the Boston area, so we settled there, in Winthrop. Things didn't work out - the life was much harder than my parents had imagined, and so after about a twelvemonth we came back again. Looking back I wish I'd been older, because at that age I retained very few memories.

What's the scenery like where you are, and what kinds of crops do you grow locally? West Wales where I live is a rural area, but it's mainly livestock because the climate is too wet and the soil (for the mostpart) is too poor for crops.

How old are your children? I've got two - my daughter is 31 and my son is 30; it's amazing how the years flash past.

I'm really impressed by this website. I've wandered into a couple of chat-rooms but there's nothing much happening there.

Well, it's really nice to hear from you, and perhaps you can put up another posting when you get a chance.

Dyfed.
