Eritrean/Ethiopian Conflict

I want to take the time to bring up the subject of the Eritrean Ethiopian border conflict. Because of the efforts of the TPLF (Tigray People's Liberation Front), the process of border demarcation has been halted. The conflict started when the land of Badme was given to Eritrea, (it was ours to begin with), and Ethiopia disagreed with this. Since then, the TPLF regime has been attacking Eritreans at the border. Recently, several people from the TPLF gave themselves up to Eritrea and told the government that the TPLF was planning to start another war.

Re: Eritrean/Ethiopian Conflict

An age old question. How far back can nationalists claim "rights" to land?

300-600 a.d.?

1500's?

20th Century?

This is actually a really good question! I don't know how to answer it.

A very good question. I know that for Eritrea, if you look in geography books in an encyclopedia or anywhere online, you will see that Badme has been a part of Eritrea forever, and the only time it's been a part of Ethiopia is when all of Eritrea was federated with Ethiopia.

So it would appear that Eritrea really does have a bone to pick?

I would say so. So, as long as you have an adequate amount of "knives" to bone-pick with, then you can pursue it.

That is just like everyday life in the "real world." If someone wants something and thinks he/she can get it without too much "cost" then they'll go for it.

That land belongs to us, and if we fought for it once, we'll do it again.
