Family Sues Japanese Restaurant Over Flying Shrimp
Wife Wants $10M For What She Says Is Deadly Serving Method
MINEOLA, N.Y. -- A New York family has filed a $10 million lawsuit, claiming a Japanese chef who tossed cooked shrimp at a man caused him to die 10 months later. The family of the Long Island man, Jerry Colaitis, said he ducked away from the flying shrimp, wrenched his neck and died from complications caused by the surgery he had on his neck. The family is suing the Benihana Restaurant in Munsey Park, Long Island. The restaurant is known for having its hibachi chefs slice, dice and toss food when cooking the meal in front of customers. In the lawsuit, the man's wife said her husband was healthy until he went to the restaurant. She said the chain of events that led to his death began with the shrimp. http://www.nbc4.tv/food/3947165/detail.html |

Re: Family Sues Japanese Restaurant Over Flying Shrimp
I knew a Police Chief who was sued for a flying hamburger (he threw it). I think it is much more likely that a shrimp would fly. Why would anyone would go out to eat without keeping thier guard up for such a thing. If he had been wearing a hard hat and safety glasses he would have just kept eating, knowing he was safe.
