I Hate My Bagless Vacumn

A few months back Rick convinced me to replace our broken down vacumn with one of those bagless ones. So far I am not impressed. Seems I am spending all my time cleaning it out, getting junk off the filter and getting stuff unstuck from the hose..

I an honestly not sure if the dust from Trixie's dust bath is clogging up the filter or what. We have her dust bath in the room she plays in..and of course, once she uses it and starts running around, there is dust everywhere.

I am unsure what to do. I do not want to buy a new vacum yet....but this is getting rediculous.

Any hints or suggestions?

Re: I Hate My Bagless Vacumn

what brand is it?

by all accounts - reviewers, testers, users, essentially everyone - the Dyson vacuum cleaners are the best available, by leaps and bounds over any other bagged or bagless vacuum cleaner.

they're also far and away the most expensive. quality comes at a price.

Re: I Hate My Bagless Vacumn

Consumer Reports didn't rate the Dyson very high at all. There were 2 Kenmore models from Sears that rated #1 & #2. The next best buy was the Eureka models.

When I bought a new vacuum, I picked up a Eureka "The Boss" for $150. It has a bag, I resisted trying the bagless kind.

I had a Hoover Wind Tunnel which I despised. Sold it at a garage sale for $15.

I love the Eureka. It picks up pet hair like nothing. The hose attachment isn't as powerful as I'd like. CR did note that in their rating.

One of the worst machines I ever had was the Oreck my Ex paid about $400.00 for. One of the best is a cheapie I bought at Big Lots. Don't even know which brand it is because I left it in Nevada, but it cost $39. I left it behind because this place had a Hoover Windtunnel, but I like it. Works OK.

Re: I Hate My Bagless Vacumn

I too have had some totally crappy hoover's over the years. The worst was an Electrolux which cut out every 5 minutes when it overheated. It took me 3 days to hoover one room! I HATED the damn thing! And I always wondered how other people could get hoovers that worked well or picked things up when none of mine did! Didn't matter if I had bags or bagless hoovers - none of 'em did what they were supposed too!

Then about a year ago I became friendly with my MIL! hehe
We have had a cold war running between us for about 8 years, when suddenly she became VERY friendly!
She came to visit for a weekend and she bought each of my kids a DS and she bought me a breadmaker, a new washing machine because mine was on its last legs, a microwave because she tried to use mine and found it had died! AND a Dyson! It's not the "cheapest" one, as it were, it's the next one up, the green & grey one. (Each colour does different things!)

Now I had dreamed of winning the lottery (!) and buying the one that hoovers up animal hair because my daughter has waist-length hair and I am always finding long hairs entangled in the carpets and, of course, nothing will hoover those lil suckers up! Grrr!

Or better still, I wanted the one for asthmatics which sucked up all the dirt and dust and everything else besides! However, I was very happy to get this one and I have to say it is Absolutely FANBLOODYTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!

It hoovers up BRILLIANTLY!!! You just run the hoover over the floor once and it picks up EVERYTHING - just like every hoover you ever see on TV! The tools fit neatly on it and are not forever falling off! The long hose reaches everywhere!

The two machines I couldn't live without are my dishwasher and my Dyson!
And yes, its expensive, but it is SOOOO worth the money especially when my other hoovers cost about £100 each and were totally crap and this one cost about £200 and is worth a million of any other kind!

The people who bang on about how brilliant a Dyson is are not lying! It is such a MEGA SOOPER FAB hoover and well worth the investment!

And if anyone from Dyson is reading this they are very welcome to send me an endorsement cheque! hehehehehe

Re: I Hate My Bagless Vacumn

I have to agree with Rapunzel here!
When I was diagnosed with a dust-mite allergy I went out and bought an all singing and all dancing Miele Allergyvac to replace my totally worn out Dyson. What a nightmare, doesn't do what it says on the label and it had bags that puffed dust back at you everytime you changed them. A year later I found myself buying a Dyson DC14 and I've never looked back. Fantastic machines.
