My dog is sick..
Don't know what's up or down, but it hurts her if i touch near her tailbone. Started yesterday afternoon. Noticed it when i got home after work and let her out. She peed but no #2. She always #2 when she goes out in afternoon..
she seemed a little ginger on hind quarter walking up the two step back into the house and then just kinda laid around..went back out a couple of hours later and she yelped stepping down those two steps, went and peed but again no #2. same thing before bed. she's drinking lots of water but not eatting. then this morning she laid down inside back door and did not even attempt the two steps. touch where tail starts and she yelps. giving me tha confused 'wtf' is going on look that dogs do. Vet can get her in tomorrow. said give her an aspirin for the pain. Anyone have a clue? |

Re: My dog is sick..
Could be Hip Dysplasia, it shows up in middle aged dogs. Is there any way she got hit?

Re: My dog is sick..
Well, thanks Chons I was going to wait for a DVM!!
![]() Is she overweight at 50 pounds? Sounds to me like it might be a slipped disc/pinched nerve thing. They tolerate aspirin pretty well, but I'd give her some food with it. Since you say she isn't eating, how about something that she really considers a treat? Bit of chicken, perhaps. Anything non-spicy non-fatty. Good luck and do let us know! ![]() |

Re: My dog is sick..
Hey, Flops
It sounds like what Val said, possibly a slipped disc or pinched nerve. The pain would cause her to go off her food, so that makes sense, too. It could also be an injury to her tail, believe it or not. When is your appointment with the vet? Give buffered aspirin, but never Tylenol, it's toxic to dogs. Let us know how it goes at the vet, ok? Miss ya!!! |

Re: My dog is sick..
Well the aspirin seemed to help..gave it to her in hamburger meat...that perked her up, 'cause by time i got home at 5 she had eatten her food...even managed to pooh a little could although tell it was bothering her a lot to produce a little..
and of course you feel like a total idiot doing an inspection of what she gave up, but at this point -anything for clues.. She's drinking bowl after bowl of water though...i hope she's flushing her system |
