Re: ForumGarden's new Friendship & Relationship Forum Open!
I hardly ever see my best friend. The last time I spent time with her was in June and we live ten minutes away from each other on the outskirts of town. She has a very cozy place called the Bog and I enjoy visiting when I can. She's a very busy executive (working from home) but we email or call every day and tell each other everything. In fact, in my intimate relationships I've never done anywhere near the self disclosure that I've done with my dear, T.
I'm male and she's female but there has never been any sexual tension between us and just thinking about is like kissing my sister. But the love we have for each other is deeper and more honest than any love I've experienced. In fact, we fell in love, so to speak, via phone and email. Her husband was a former friend of mine and when he left her for another woman I called to say how sorry I was. That was the beginning of a beautiful friendship, to coin a phrase. I've been with T through good times and bad and I can't imagine being without her companionship. And by the way, we share a birthday and we we're born just an hour apart. Our Birthday is the one day we make sure to be together in person. Do you have a platonic love in your life or just a good friend that means as much or more to you than your lover or spouse? |

Yep, I had a good friend (male) actually he helped me back to the real world, that's seem years ago now. Then,I don't mind mentioning his name Patrick died last February. He was 67 years old. He was married to a wonderful scottish girl and they had four boys and two girls. I still visit his home at Christmas time. Christmas was never my time of year. I find it very depressing.
Anyway,to continue, Patrick worked for a social services group, kind of Christian group. They never got to convert me. And we just about ran into each other on the street. He took me around places,to his home for dinner and even tried to get me to church. I miss Patrick today. He was a great man. |

Re: ForumGarden's new Friendship & Relationship Forum Open!
Good friends are hard to come by. Sometimes you think you find someone who you think is a friend and then turns out not to be one. But, then again, it does work both ways. Being a friend is as important as having a friend. It took me a long time to realize that. And at times, it still doesn't seem to be enough. I can count on one hand how many people I can talk to or feel I can count on. These same people are the ones I would do anything for. I am open to anyone who is willing to talk.

Re: ForumGarden's new Friendship & Relationship Forum Open!
are there any PHD's or PsychoTherapists out there; my question is; my husband has always been a hard driven worker, he has only child Syndrome, is too nice to the wrong people and hard on the good, who do so much for him? he has become crankier this year, dispite i have had some non stop turbulence, a person like this can exhaust you, what can i do to get him to settle down & be more himself? He did stop smoking 1/04, has reduced drinking, & focuses on things that are terrible or gone wrong?
