I am so bloody angry
We have not long come back from a sale in the main shopping centre of our town. Outside it is 40.c,there was this beautiful, long haired sheep dog sitting under a tree with his owner. The owner was guzzling on a bottle of water the poor dog had none. I told the owner his dog looked thirsty. He just said it is OK she had a drink before .Before? So I had to drive some people home, come back & the dog is still there panting away. The owner then decides he will leave,he goes to the side of the road, makes the poor dog sit on the tar road/ashphalt,while a car goes past. 40.c Then the owner drags the poor dog across the road . I was so angry I told the bloke to give the dog a drink & hurry. He gave me the finger & walked away. |

Re: Animals & HOT Days
that really pisses me off !
We had Newfoundlands and every November we shaved them. That's just too cruel to keep a dog like that with long hair in our Climate. Especially in our summers. What are people thinking. anyone north of the Victorian border and inland should not own a northern hemisphere dog unless they have the correct equipment to look after it.I heard a horrible story of a man who owned a New Foundland in the NT. The dog did not have a life because it sat next to a damn all day everyday the poor thing. It eventually died of heat exhaustion ![]() |

Re: Animals & HOT Days
If it happens again why not take the dog a bowl of water? The guy probably wouldn't mind you giving the dog water and at least the poor dog doesn't have to suffer! It goes against the grain helping out the jerk but now youre mad and he's mad and he might take it out on the dog. Still report him though. Contact the RSPCA (ASPCA?) too.
Also perhaps another time you could take the water and ask "Do you mind if I give your dog some water? He looks hot" and then talk about the weather. You could find out if its his dog as he might be caring for it for a friend and have no clue about dogs. I know it irks to be pleasant to idiots but at least you and the dog would feel happier and it might at least make the guy think to water the dog next time. Good luck.
