That's pretty interesting.
Shakespeare was thought to have taken the story from a folk tale from the area concerning two mafioso type families (the names are very similar to Capulet and Montague, but they evade me at the present moment - I'll have a look tomorrow and fill you in if no-one else does!). It would certainly be interesting to have a bit more info!
