Peter Pan Peanut Butter Recall

I don't think this brand is sold here in Canada, and probably not in Australia or the UK either, but I think it's very popular in the USA :

All Peter Pan peanut butter bought since May 2006 should be discarded, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said on Friday in a statement broadening its warning about salmonella-contaminated peanut butter...

ConAgra Foods Inc., which makes Peter Pan, said earlier it was checking the source of the contamination, which may have also affected the Great Value label peanut butter it makes for retailer Wal-Mart....

The FDA had said on Wednesday that certain batches of Peter Pan butter may contain salmonella and that all had a product code on the lid of the jar beginning with 2111.

The FDA said the suspect Great Value peanut butter also could be identified by the 2111 code...

Hope nobody here got sick from this. The article says that over 290 people have contracted food poisoning from it, and 46 had to be hospitalised.

I've never thought of putting PB on a bagel...I will try that!

It was also the great value brand from walmart. Would'nt you know, I had some. Me and my daughter were making some birdseed things for the birds and squirels with it. They said the animals should be okay.

Peater Pan is not real peanut butter. Anyone who knows anything about pb knows that Skippy is the only way to go !

I like President's Choice "Blue Menu" peanut butter.

The entire ingredients list says "just peanuts". Nothing else.

Lots of brands (particularly the cheaper stuff) is full of icing sugar and hydrogenated oil.

well thanks to this thread ive just had my spoon in the peanut butter jar! and after being so good today

btw cant beat "whole earth" peanut butter 97% peanuts, the rest palm oil & sea salt...and gorgeous!
