Let's Lose Weight, shall we?

Went to buy a new shirt yesterday and instead bought a pair of shoes.. figured I couldn't see those anyways when looking down- so what the hell...

It is a sad thing I have become.. the mirrors in the dressing room more then made up for the fact I don't own a full length mirror in my home..The sad realization that I am not in fact a late bloomer.. the bigger boobs are due most certainly to fat and not attractive boobmeat... ..the free flowing peasant type blouse that transformed itself into a sausage casing as I slipped it on...

So I headed home, got a large garbage can and proceeded to empty my refrigerator and cupboards. I then headed to the local grocery store and bought fresh foodstuffs only..

Next I pulled my stride exerciser into the middle of the livingroom and did a brisk 10 mins... ate a salad and crab legs for supper..and plotted my course..

I will buy a scale today...never owned one before, should be thoroughly depressing.. parking it in front of the fridge..lol. I did NOT swing through McDonalds for breakfast(I now know how a junkie must feel).. I will add 5 minutes a night on the exerciser and at the end of one week start doing crunches..

And here's the bad part... I'm coming back here once a week and posting lose or gain.. no one has to read it, but I figure if I don't put my pride on the line, it will be easier to cheat..

I have no interest in low carb, no carb, or any other kind of 'diet'. I've never known anyone who was successful long term at those ... the body needs crap from time to time, IMO. Denying it only makes the body pack it on when the opportunity presents itself.. I happen to enjoy fish and chicken and beef... so I will continue to eat them. I love fresh veggies, so I don't care if corn isn't good for me.. I plan to eat a piece or two when I can find it fresh.

But no more tossing it in the microwave for one minute to indulge myself... if I want it, I will be cooking it fresh.. that way I at least have to think about it..

Hi Floppy!

Good for you for taking that positive step.

I'm in total agreement with you, in that I can't be doing with faddy diets. My body needs ALL food groups and that includes Chocolate!

HOWEVER - I have dropped from a size 20 to a 12-14 through a mixture of WeightWatchers, Healthy eating and exercise.

You can do it!

How much do you want to lose?

Thanks Red.

WW has changed now so that there are a couple of plans to suit you. the good thing about it is that you don't hve to give anything up.

Re: Let's Lose Weight, shall we?

Flop
I noticed on the age thread we're the same age, I don't know what happens to a womens body - hormones - menapause all of it sucks. I don't dare go shopping for clothes & I have gift cards from Christmas & refuse to use them until I delete some of this crap thats going South.
I'll play this weight loss with you - with others involved it'll motivate me to loose & work at it.. I've started walking - @ 3 miles 2-3 times a week, exercise is not a option due to my back etc.. Unfortunetly I have a scale.
So, I'm 50 yrs old this September - 5'8" and 188lbs. 2-l9-07 Monday..
Post your stats

Here we go - Good Luck

Patsy

Re: Let's Lose Weight, shall we?

Hi Flopstock,

I'm with you I'm a real foodie and love to cook. I do need to lose weight but am too lazy to exercise. I used to walk along the beach for 10 miles 3 times a week, plus do aerobics everyday. Now I do nothing. I agree with you. You don't need to go on special diets. Just shut your gob, have smaller meals, and stay away from foods you're allergic to.

So, I'm also going to improve my diet right now. Just bought a little sports car, a roadster ,and need to make sure I fit into it So, I'm off the beach for a long walk in about an hour. Diet will wait until tomorrow though...going to an Irish pub this pm.

byw...had an email conversation about someone we spoke about the other day, but couldn't pm you.

Take care and good luck

Re: Let's Lose Weight, shall we?

Hey girl, I know where you're coming from. I get on my stride exercise machine and start thinking like, "the little engine that could....I know I can, I know I can!" Doing 30 minutes several times per week on it now. Love fresh produce! Can't wait until I can plant my veggy garden.

I'm wishing you well on your new venture Flopstock!
