One inauguration per...

Well, inaugural celebration, anyway. It's my personal feeling that waaaay
too much money is spent on a second inauguration ceremony when a
president is re-elected. The first time, okay. Have all of it. But the second
one, why not limit it to just a VERY small swearing in with just a few people,
and pool reporters or whatever so the public can watch. Put all those
millions to MUCH better use. Oh, gee, I dunno, pay down the national
debt, perhaps?

Whaddya think, gang?

Re: One inauguration per...

When President George Walker Bush lays his left hand on the bible and raises his right to take the presidential oath of office next Thursday, he will be putting his seal on an inauguration that is as unique as it is extravagant.
As is customary, Pennslvania Avenue will be transformed into a riotous sea of red, white and blue as marching bands, military platoons and motorbike riders parade from Capital Hill to the White House.
More guests will watch the swearing-in than ever before. But amid the masses will be a whole new class of inauguration attendee.
Specialists in rescuing people from collapsed buildings will be primed to spring into action.
Combat-ready troops from the 3rd Infantry Regiment toting M-4 assault rifles and a Marine Corps rapid reaction force will pass through crowds with mobile sensors, ready to pick up the first whiff of a chemical or biological attack.
Anyone wanting to get within two blocks of the parade route will have to pass through 22 screening points.

Your looking good America.

It's too sad. It was a real shock to think a President couldn't ride in an open limo when Kennedy was assasinated. We have come a long way. What next?

So...we should be inagurating Kerry even though he didn't get the votes?
