probing the terrorist mind
I think it's safe to say that al-Queda is into symbolism. With so many potential targets to choose from which targets would best reflect al-Queda's ideology and have an optimum psychological impact on the American psyche?
I think al-Queda will spell out its next message with a series of soft targets that strike at the heart of American culture. But instead of structures I have a sense that it will be classes of people and perhaps specific individuals. I feel that bin Laden is out of the operational mode now but he's in command of al-Queda's ideology and resolve. I think he will want the next strike to be up close and personal in that certain classes of people will identify with his victims. Instead of killing a number of faceless people like he did in 911 he will let his targets experience what its like to be hunted as he has been. High profile people becoming terrorist victims would definitely have a political impact as well as a psychological one. But I'm probably wrong. All we can do is speculate and wait for them to do what we least expect. |

I definitely agree with you. I don't agree with this statement:
Quote:
They've made it clear that individudals are on their list now. Specifically, Senators, Legislators, pop culture icons, etc. It's the terrifying aspect of terrorism - not knowing who, what, when or where. |

Yes, new evidence revealed an assassination plot but we don't know who the target was or is.
Interesting specualtion about pop culture celebrities. That would probably cause more concern than the death of a few politicians. (bad joke) |

I may or may not be voicing what other people are thinking,
why dont we just "remove our people" from Iraq, and Afganistan and level both countries, to start - a few good placed bombs might wake these people up.... They dont care - why should we.......enough is enough ....everybody seems to ba annoyed with us now....why not just really shock them.... |

Re: probing the terrorist mind
Well. there is no reason to punish the general populace for the actions of a few. Fundamentalism in any form is wrong.. we have our very own here in the U.S. Oral Roberts... Billy Graham... Pat Robertson..etc.. should they be nuked too...??
