Just had to post it... Thought i would let you all read it.

A Tucson man and his girlfriend locked his 14-year-old daughter in a bedroom for more than a year, letting her out only for bathroom breaks and small meals, until she escaped and called authorities for help, investigators say.

Rene T. Valenzuela also sexually abused the girl, who may not have attended school since the fourth grade, said Sgt. Kerry Fuller, a spokeswoman for the Tucson Police Department.

The agency announced the arrests of Valenzuela and Elizabeth V. Arguello early this afternoon. According to a press release from Fuller: The girl escaped the home, near East 22nd Street and South Craycroft Boulevard, last Thursday, and called police.

Authorities began investigating and believe that Valenzuela and his live-in girlfriend had kept the girl locked inside her bedroom since November 2003. School records appear to indicate she has not attended school in more than four years.

Detectives said the girl had been put in a bedroom — locked on the outside — and its single window covered by a blanket.

The girl was significantly malnourished, weighing 97 pounds at 5-foot-6. She was placed into the custody of Child Protective Services and is receiving medical care.

Arguello had two daughters also living at the home, but authorities don’t believe the 8- and 10-year-old were abused. The girls also have been taken into CPS custody.

Valenzuela is charged with one count of child abuse; two counts of child molestation; and six counts of sexual contact with a minor.

Arguello is charged with one count of child abuse. The couple remained at the Pima County jail on Wednesday.

I know this is Arizona news but i thought you all might find it interesting. How horrible for this teen. Can you imagine not being outside for over a year. I just think it is sad and i am gald that it is finally over. Hopefully she will go to someone that will treat her better.

How sad is this? I wonder where this girl's biological mother is. Stories like this just make me so sad and angry.
