I have only ever had rescued dogs.
My first dog was a German wire haired pointer x,she was fantastic, guardeed the family and brough up a litter of kittens for a lazy cat. She lived to 15 + and we couldn't bear to be without a dog so we got another German wire haired pointer X, she is now 15 and beginning to get a bit slow, again she is a wonderful dog but has a much less amiable temprament then our first one. At the moment we also have a German Shepherd x Rottwiler who is huge, 5 ft on her hind legs but as soft as butter. She is 3 and full of beans. My parents had a pedigree pointer who was a nurotic pain in the bum and lived to eight years but spent the last 3 as a real geriatric. Are German Wire Haired Pointers long lived dogs or have we just been lucky with our rescues? |

Re: Rescues
You might just have been lucky, the rescues probably have
something called "hybrid vigor" due to not being 100% pure!! OR, did you ever consider it might very well have been YOUR good food and care and vet visits?!?!? Welcome to the garden!! Hug those doggers for me! ![]() |
