License to Parent

This may have been talked about before, but I read this article earlier today. Are some parents actually this ignorant on the human body in general to not realize their baby's tongue was cut or there were vaginal & anal tears? I also find it interesting they took the baby to the hospital for "congestion" but not for the other problems.

I know there's no way the govt can limit parenthood to those who take & pass a parenting 101 class because then you'd end up w/ back alley births, abortions etc. But something has to be done. Too many teens are getting pregnant, killing their baby, abusing their baby, etc. It's just unreal the audacity of some people.

I don't believe in a license to parent, but this case, damn! I just wish I hadn't read this. Sometimes human cruelty brings me to tears.

My sister is a teen mother. She is a wonderful and loving mother and has a support network. Perhaps many abused would be prevented if teen had support. But anal and vaginal tears is beyond horror.

Also, I don't believe that ending an early, unwanted pregnancy is necessarily a bad thing.
