Are the swift boaters credible?

Do you think Kerry made a mistake concentrating on his war record? As a Democrat I was disappointed that Kerry put so much emphasis on his heroism at the expense of other issues. I think he has the experience and aptitude to be President but I fear the focus in the closing weeks of the election will be on the allegations of the swift boaters.

Does this story have legs or will it die before the election? Elliot backed down early on but O'Neil is standing his ground and getting lots of media attention. I haven't read the book and I don't intend to but I hope swing voters aren't influenced by the book and the negative ad campaign.

I think Kerry can certainly hold his own with Bush on the character issue and I hear DNC has a trump card on Bush's past and his family that there saving for the home stretch.

They're going to get down and dirty.

So far I haven't seen any evidence, so to me it's just trash talk. With November drawing near, Kerry needs to focus on the other issues he hasn't gone in depth on, and not just his war record.

Yes, if you ask average people not involved in politics what they know about Kerry it's usually the stuff about his war record. I think the campaign shot themselves in the foot with this one.
