the hospital nearest me is the only one within 50 miles, and has a terrible reputation. but when i had a heart attack on dec. 18, i got very lucky. the cardiologist was world-class and i was laying in the ER and looking at the monitor, i KNEW i was in deep trouble...i told him i knew, and he said you are going to wake up with your chest open or dead. he operated on me twice in three days. and he was never less than honest with me, because i knew damn well what was going on and am pragmatic. it's the luck of the draw. if he had not been on call i might be dead.
