Any Social Workers out there ?????
Would like to get some input on the field of Social Work. I am considering a career in this field. As a matter of fact, I have my mind set on this field.
What would be the best things about your job in Social Work? What would be the worst things about your job in Social Work? What is the pay range where you live??? Please tell all. ![]() |

Re: Any Social Workers out there ?????
not a social worker, but feel like one sometimes. can you take the grief?? and the dysfunction? and the abused kids? low wages and HEAVY unmanageable caseload? best wishes, good social workers are needed badly. but they go through hell and are blamed for every kid that falls through the cracks.

Re: Any Social Workers out there ?????
Thanks for the input L.C. I'm sure you feel like a social worker at times with your type of job. I admire and respect any woman that puts her life on the line to work in law enforcement. Bravo to you!
I am well aware of the types of problems out there that social workers must deal with. Just about any job working with people involves many stresses. But helping people is in my heart and this is an area I have always wanted to be in since I was a teenager. The wages are actually pretty good depending on whether you have an MSW or BSW, number of years in the field, the area you live in and area of social work you are in. I plan on getting my Masters and possibly go for a phD in the near future. Having a Masters will allow me to counsel with people. I have been researching this out and have found alot of current information about wages, different types of social work and so on at NASW (National Association of Social Workers). I have also interviewed some social workers with great results as far as info is concerned. I am still reading lots of material available on the internet. I believe you have to genuinely care about people as I do, be a good listener and realize that you can't solve the world's problems. But you can help make a difference in someones life by giving them hope, direction, support and positive reinforcement. Thanks again. I'll let you know my final decision. ![]() |
