| Amber Alert Forum The AMBER Alert System began in 1996 when Dallas-Fort Worth broadcasters teamed with local police to develop an early warning system to help find abducted children. AMBER stands for America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response and was created as a legacy to 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, who was kidnaped while riding her bicycle in Arlington, Texas, and then brutally murdered. Other states and communities soon set up their own AMBER plans as the idea was adopted across the nation. |

Missing Iowa girl...
Newton Teen Still Missing After Month
Police Enlist Help Nationwide In Search POSTED: 9:47 am CDT April 13, 2005 UPDATED: 10:19 am CDT April 13, 2005 DES MOINES, Iowa -- Newton police are asking law enforcement agency around the country to help in the search for a missing teenage girl. Family members said 15-year-old Jessica Reeves disappeared from her home last month. They say Reeves is developmentally disabled and they're worried about what's happened to her. Reeves' family believes that she may have left the state.
