Strange creature on the sea shore

What has eight legs but looks more like a starfish than an octupus apart from on a Saturday when it decides to only have seven legs? Confused? So am I. I've put a picture of the wee beastie on the web site www.littlelemur.com and if anyone can help me to identify it (or if you know someone who can) then please let me know.

I clicked your link and got a homepage for endangered species. The only photo there was a four legged brown bear
