In Northern Ireland, the troubles that will not go away. Along the border with the Irish Republic- Protestant families are being intimidated and asked to leave their home by the IRA. And Americans support this terrorists group who have murdered our people in Ireland and the United Kingdom. And when the Loyalists Ulster Freedom Fighters start the mother of all battles in Ireland, will those faithful Americans supply new WMD to the leaders of both sides?

Re: The troubles that will not go away,
Hi Capt Buzzard,
Can you give us ForumGardeners a little background or synopsis on this conflict? I for one would like to hear what you have to say about it. In America, we really only are aware of this conflict when there is bloodshed. And even then, many of us are not really clear about what is going on. I can google this and find out what the "media" says, but I'm interested on your point of view. Quote:

Before the political questions like independence can be resolved there must be an ecumenical style dialog between the religious factions. I feel that the IRA is driven more by religious hatred than hatred for the Brits though I'm not discounting their passion for independence. |

Re: The troubles that will not go away,
I'll take a look but I think I have a grasp of the core issues. As an Irish citizen, what are your positions and do you have a viable solution?

I'm not a politican. So the answer to your question is NO. And as you well know this is our future. After the last local elections Sinn Fein is moving up. And Dail Eireann is next. http://www.sinnfein.ie
Fianna Fail will never be elected to govern the Irish Republic again. Nor will Fine Gael. Sinn Fein is going to win the next General Election. A terrible beauty will be born. |

We are All One in the EU today. I think the last hora stand is coming soon. The mother of all battles in Northern Ireland. The Loyalists will not give a inch nor will the Nationalists/Republicans take any less. |

Re: The troubles that will not go away,
Did you know that the American government tracks the activities (financial support, correspondence, etc.) of Americans involved in, "the troubles"? It's not a subject that gets much coverage in the press but the UK works closely with American law eforcement and intelligence agencies in monitoring IRA communications and intercepting weapons shipments.
