Is The Pentagon Keeping Tabs on Political Websites?
What started out as a simple story about a local Web site spun out into an international quest for a conspiratorially covered-up smoking gun behind Sept. 11.
Fielding calls from the Defense Department one minute and incredulous conspiracy hunters in London the next, I expected to glance up and see a "The Truth Is Out There" poster slapped defiantly above my desk. This was getting ridiculous. "We suffered about 20 attacks over a two month period," said John Norquist, administrator for KenoshaOnline. "And each attack resulted in about 10 to 15 different articles ... so, you do the math, that's about three hundred attacks, total." And, now, the punchline: according to the IP address the comments left behind, the computer generating the porn bombs is sitting in Room BF655A of the Pentagon in Washington D.C., property of the United States Department of Defense. |

I think DARPA is mining discussion sites (particularly Arab sites) for political content but if DIA or any other American intelligence entity wanted to conduct Internet sabotage it would be impossible to trace.
Most staff in the Pentagon don't have ordinary Internet access but I suppose it's possible that some whacked out employee could be using an office machine for porn bombs. But they wouldn't use a DoD address and that address is phony. As an aside though, terrorists have used porn packets to send encrypted messages. There's so much of it out there it's a good medium to use. |

Re: Is The Pentagon Keeping Tabs on Political Websites?
I wouldn't be overly surprised if all the political forums were monitored to some extent.....not that i feel anyone should take it to heart though.
Reason being, is that the govt. has a pretty good picture of what they want to get accomplished and who/what if anything could pose resistance to their program. I'm sure they could care less about a bunch of babble that gets out on the net, for we're always the last to know of anything important anyways....and if something did leak, you either get bought off or wind up dead. Sit back, revel in your self fabricated fear and paranoia and continue paddling in the rat race. The govt. already has designs for you! ![]()

I'm not concerned about what government will do to me. I'm concerned about what they might do to the other guy.
Maybe you're to young to know about the communist witch hunts but there were a lot of fabricated conspiracy charges back in the fifties and this government ruined a lot of lives. People wound up on black lists and lost jobs, reputations, and some even committed suicide. The American government has a long history of abusing power and I'm going to be vigilant in helping to prevent it from happening again. |

I don't think anybody would be surprised if the government was watching you online. Maybe it was some maniacal Nazi-like, ultracon who was holding a grudge against something that sounded socialist. |

I'd say that again. Remember McCarthy era of 1950s Kerry will be a twin of McCarthy. Back To The Future in reverse |
