Amber Alert Forum The AMBER Alert System began in 1996 when Dallas-Fort Worth broadcasters teamed with local police to develop an early warning system to help find abducted children. AMBER stands for America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response and was created as a legacy to 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, who was kidnaped while riding her bicycle in Arlington, Texas, and then brutally murdered. Other states and communities soon set up their own AMBER plans as the idea was adopted across the nation.

Amber Alert Issued for 5 to 8 Year Old Houston Texas Girl
Posted: Thursday, June 16, 2005 12:14 PM CT

The Montgomery County Texas Sheriff's Office issued the Amber Alert on Thursday morning after the girl was reportedly abducted according to witnesses.

Unknown white female, 5 to 8 years old with shoulder-length brown hair and wearing a pink shirt with a pink rose and green leaves, pink flip-flops and black shorts.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic man, wearing a hat with a star on it and a chinstrap.

The suspect vehicle is a black box-style van with dark-colored rims, dirt on the wheels, no windows on the side and a sliding door.

Sheriff's Office investigators said the van witnesses described is similar to the vehicle used in an abduction attempt about a month ago in the same area.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Montgomery County sheriff's Office at (936) 760-5876. or dial 911.

I find this odd in the fact that wouldn't the parents be with a child this young and why have they not noticed she is missing.
