market research/health care

If anybody's interested, I'd like to get your opinion on a health care related idea a friend of mine and I are working up.

We're thinking of converting a school building in Mexico to a combination assisted living and skilled nursing facility for seniors. It's right by the ocean and our concept would be to build some condos on land above the facility which would be used as time shares by the adult children of the facility residents.

My friend is a physician so he would oversee the patient care and others would manage the assisted living. We would have webcams in every room so people could see their parents and talk to them as often as they want and when they came to visit they could have a nice vacation too.

The nurses in Mexico, at least the ones I've seen on the job, are excellent care givers. Much better, in my opinion, than nurses in the states though they aren't as well educated in most cases. But those with an RN type qualifications are comparable in skill to American nurses *and* they make beds and do other chores.

We think this would fill a niche for many Americans looking for high quality care for their parents. We could deliver that care for a very reasonable fee though Medicare would not fund out of country care.

In order for us to pull this off we have to set up a fidecomisio, or land trust, with the government because Americans can't own property in the federal zone by the ocean. Plus, we will have to have Mexican partners. But if we did this, would you consider putting your parents (assuming you're already far away from them) in a facility like this and staying in a time share when you visit? If not, do you think it's a good or bad idea?

Re: market research/health care

Could you give me more specific info on the facility? Is it private or government funded?
