This message is an update to the Florida Amber Alert that was activated on 7/21/2005 for JESSIE THREATTS. The vehicle and the male suspect are in police custody. Law enforcement is still looking for the infant child. The abducted infant was wearing a white t-shirt, diaper, and white booties. Florida (CNN) -- Florida has issued a statewide Amber Alert for an 8-day-old baby, who authorities say was abducted by his parents.Authorities in Fort Myers, Florida, say that the parents, who both have histories of drug use, took newborn Jessie Threatts from his maternal grandmother about 9:30 p.m. ET Wednesday.
The Florida Department of Children and Families had placed the baby in the grandmother's custody.
The boy is described as being 18 inches long and weighing 4 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, a diaper and white booties, authorities said.
Larry Long of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said, "The parents, possibly intoxicated, abducted the child last night. We know both parents have an extensive history of drug use. Jessie Threatts (the father of the baby) is out on bond for carrying concealed firearm by a felon. These are two very dangerous individuals."
Long added, " We are not aware if any weapons are involved. We are looking into that."
He said the woman involved, Sabrina Cobbs, "is the baby's mother. We believe they are both biological parents. We don't know the extent of their relationship."
Long said, "Basically we have a newborn here. We feel very strongly that these two individuals are very dangerous and we don't know what their intentions are. We are asking the public to keep eyes open for their vehicle; have info, call 911."
The alert is for a light blue Lincoln with the Florida tag number J39NSG.
