Four-Star Army General Sacked! Due To Nuclear Excercise?
Is the real reason being given for the firing of Four-Star General Byrnes?
Notice that his command is headquartered at Fort Monroe, Virginia -- YES...the very Fort Monroe where the much-discussed nuclear attack "exercise" is being run from *right now*, this very month of August 2005. Is that part of the equation somehow? As a hypothetical scenario, was/is something being done that General Byrnes disapproved of, and has someone maneuvered him out of the picture to get someone more accomodating and tractable into Fort Monroe? Or, is there another factor? Was it - hypothetically - perhaps the other way around instead? Great intrigue centers on Fort Monroe right now in the month of August -- exactly what is happening there? Is the truth being covered up? Four-Star Army general Sacked At Fort Monroe, Virginia http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/08/09/gen....ap/index.html |

Re: Four-Star Army General Sacked! Due To Nuclear Excercise?
Today's Wash Post says it was due to an extramarital affair. Even though he was in the process of getting a divorce and the woman in question was a civilian, it was still deemed to be 'conduct unbecoming an officer". The military is taking a tough line in light of the sexual harrassment charges coming out of the Air Force Academy.

I agree, he should be drummed out. He's a high profile officer, he shoulda known better. You can't lead if you don't follow. Thats **** poor leadership. If it happens to coincide with an operation or not makes no difference. He could have been fired outright for making any opinion public regarding disagreement with an ongoing operation. |
