neighborhoods
what are your neighbors and neigborhood like? mine is very frustrating for me. i moved to this area to help my son through college, it is not an attractive area, but was all i could afford. the houses are small and close to each other. on one side i see people with plastic bags in their windows instead of glass, some old nasty cracked kitchen chairs outside, next to a car up on jacks and hubcaps on the ground. on the other side is people whom i have arrested. in fact i have arrested half the neighbors. our cruisers are in here day and night. i keep the scanner on constantly. i HATE for my comrades to know i live here. there's a lot of dope-sales and just nasty jerry-springer people. i am so uncomfortable, and they don't particularly appreciate my presence either. there is also blatant child-neglect and domestic violence. they think nothing of banging on my door when i'm sleeping, i finally put a little sign up "call 911".

Re: neighborhoods
I have a nice neighborhood. An elementary school across the street, and a stand of trees down the corner. All the houses are about 10-15 years old, very well kept up. Neighbors compete for trimmed yards, and always pick up trash. I am very lucky, it is nice here.

Re: neighborhoods
Well, mine aren't too bad... considering. The people right next to us on one
side are SLOBS... they're the ones I posted about back in January... remodeled their kitchen and left the old drawers moldering in the rain for six months... weeds waist high, old broken down fence, you name it. I planted 5 big huge whiskey half barrels full of zinnias and sunflowers just to try and hide the CRAP and when I saw the lady out there... she said how much she enjoyed the flowers and how nice it looked. Uh, DUH, why don't you police your side of it? Oh well, could be worse I 'spect. We do have guys riding around on those little noisy fake choppers all the time. |

Re: neighborhoods
i live very close to the ocean, so all homes around here are so expensive, even the bad areas. some really nice apartment/condo complexes will let cops live there very cheaply in exchange for security and wearing a pager all the time, so you are never off-duty. i have considered it, but you never have a moments peace.

Re: neighborhoods
My neighbors are okay. I've had worse, that's for sure. I live right outside city limits so it's kind of like living in the country, without actually living in the country. I can walk downtown to work in less than 10 minutes. My neighbors keep pretty much to themselves.

Re: neighborhoods
Yeeeesh. LC, I live in the upperclass whitetrash part of town. A Boeing community next to a golfcourse in a secure gated community. Believe me I use the word "secure" loosely.
All of the buildings look the same, crackerbox condos and apartment homes, white with brown trim, a few small pools and manicured lawns. Fake fountains, fake flowerbeds and Canadian geese crapping everywhere. Drug runners are as prevelant as pizza boys and in most cases probably the same. When I say "Boeing" community I mean simply that most of the people who live here work at the Boeing plant down the street. These people are freaking snobs, if you don't work there you basically don't exist, on top of that they seem to hate one another. Can you believe the Hatfields and McCoys in condos? The family life is like a of Mexican soap opera and the movie "The Burning bed". The guy across the street beats his wife and considering the cops are in here an average of 12 times a week there is a lot more going on. The younger ones are a trip. I took off last Monday to do a few things and me and Tally were just hanging around on the back deck in the sun and watched these 2 teen bimbos in short skirts and highheels stand on the street for a hour, WITH THEIR KIDS IN BABY CARRIAGES!!! The kids were throughly burned I am sure. We have an older couple that live next to us, they are decent all around good people. They like to sit and watch the goings on here, they are having a tough time figuring out who's kids are whoms. There is a teenage prostitution ring here run by teenage girls. I am not kidding, I did not believe it until my neighbor had me sit for hours one night watching the comings and goings. Older men would drive up to this corner pick up the girl be gone for 15 minutes 1/2 hour and then they would be let off at the opposite end of the complex. He walked me through it. They even screw the girls in the back of their SUVs at the Golfcourse clubhouse. In the last 3 years I have had bullet holes put in my truck during a shootout at the gate, my truck has been rifled at least 4 times. Tally was once asked by a drunk redneck if she would do a belly dance at a barbecue she was walking by, and he did not ask politely. The words "raghead" and bi*** were in the request also. Fortunately for him she won't tell me who it was. There was a shootout a few months back across the street. There is much more but no time now. The only reason we are here is convenience and the fact that this is one of the better neighborhoods around. We could pay less somewhere but then in those places they just kick your door down and take what they want without so much as a thankyou.

Re: neighborhoods
LC, does it mean anything when the cops come but only 4 people in 2 cruisers? At minimum. A single cruiser never comes here.
