No disrespect meant to the Royal Family - but I found this news story hilarious. You gotta love a protester dressed up as Batman!

LONDON -- A protester dressed as Batman scaled up the front wall of Buckingham Palace on Monday afternoon, reaching a ledge near the balcony where the royal family appears on ceremonial occasions, campaigners and witnesses said.

The protester was identified as Jason Hatch, 33, from Gloucester, a member of the Fathers 4 Justice group, which is campaigning for greater custody rights for divorced or separated fathers.

Not only are the concept and costume great, but the protestor was from a divorced fathers group, advocating the rights of absent fathers! Wow. Very cool, utterly hilarious. Humour (that's the British spelling, mind you --in honour of the country where the event took place) can go a long way when you're trying to make a point.

Don't be silly, gmc, I've seen them on telly often enough.

This was an amusing protest, and seems to have generated massive publicity
for the people involved.

It is interesting to note that the appalling David Blunket, a minister, who is
responsible for security, says that there was no danger during this protest,
and that "Batman and Robin" were in the sights of the guns of Special
Branch throughout. He says the fact that they were able to get to where
they did was not a security breach. IMO he is living in cloud cuckoo land
and should resign immediately, it would get rid of someone who, in my
opinion, is ineffective, domineering and a repulsive character, anyway.
How did this foray succeed? A diversion was organised at the gates,
while Batman and Robin placed a ladder up a side wall. Batman shinned
up (I assume Robin was grabbed before he could follow), and followed
a ledge around the side of the palace right along the front.

One might have thought someone should have been able to nip this incident in
the bud easily enough.

I am pleased that we have security forces that have the intelligence to realise that someone dressed as batman scaling the fence when the royal family is not in residence is highly unlikely to be a terrorist but probably a protestor of some sort. Far better than overreacting and shooting him.

If we get rid of every politicain that makes a mostake none of the present government would be in power.

I suspect that when the investigation is complete it will be established that he was spotted early on and the decision taken not to shoot him which would have been an even bigger scandal as it would have shown a distinct lack of common sense.

I wonder how difficult it is to spot a couple of chaps in the immediate vicinity of
Buckingham Palace, carrying an extending ladder.....
