Can you imagine explaining failing this test to your parents??

Woman fails gender test from Asian Games

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - An Indian silver medallist at the Doha Asian Games could be stripped of her medal after failing a gender test, an Indian sports official said on Sunday.

Santhi Soundarajan won silver in the women's 800m.

"She had to undergo a gender test and there were some problems with it," Dr. Manmohan Singh, head of the medical panel of the Indian Olympic Association, told Reuters.

"They (the organisers) have informed the executive board of the Olympic Council of Asia. Doubts were raised during the dope test by an official, following which the test was carried out," Singh added.

No further details were immediately available. The Asian Games concluded on December 15.

What are they saying, Marie? Are they hinting she is a hermaphrodite or something like that? Is that what a gender test is?

Seems to me that a quick peak in her pants might clear this up.

Simplistic, but effective.

I really do not know any more information than what was in the article. But I am figuring they determined she is genetically not a female. I am not exactly sure what a chromosome test would show if she was intergender, or had a sex change. Not sure I want to go there, anyway.

She was probably taking male hormone therapy in order to "butch" up.
God, I hope she shaves.

This was discussed in one of my university classes. There are people with three sex chromosomes, though it is rare. If I remember correctly, someone who has two X chromosomes and one Y will be female physically, but would fail a gender test. Please correct me if this is wrong. This is just what I remember from a class I took four or five years ago.

I think this is what happens with some of the intersexed people. But, cat, I have heard that too.
