1- Malton was the first town by the romans to be built after they had reached the river Humber.
2- It was called New Malton because it had been allegedly burnt down when a king went on a rampage burning down villages and such in the North in the 11th centuary.
3- It was once considered to be an inland port and goods came up the river derwent by ships bringing coal and other goods from other areas of Yorkshire.
4- Norton on derwent is now 10 times larger than it was in roman...

It's unemployed cycling for me!!

Got up at 9am to get ready to go on a bike ride to Newton on Rawcliffe a village on the North York Moors near Pickering. I was hoping there would be some spare bottles for me to use, but no such luck so i had to go to the shop and get two bottles of ribena and a Lucozade sport which really did come in handy later on!

I took a pleasant route most of the way there going towards Kirby Misperton which is on a hill but it was flat getting there otherwise. A fairly narrow road but unlike...

Silence and Cacaphony (or "Silent Lucidity"? Nah.)

This morning's breakfast: a lump of pumpkin bread. I say "lump" because I have over the last two days eroded it's loaf-shaped goodness, picking at it until it looks less loaf-y and more asteroid-y. An asteroid of pumpkin bread would rock, I think.

I took a few photos of balloons last weekend before BOTH cameras' batteries died (of COURSE).
