HTML Question

On a webpage, is it do-able to insert HTML, white the text on a white page so its invisible, and then cover the script with a picture and still expect the HTML to "bleed" through and be picked up by Googles bots?
Thank you,
Nomad

Lightbulb Re: HTML Question

Boy Nomie I'm not sure what your saying do you want the link to be followed or not?

Are you talking about rel=nofollow attribute. Nofollow is method (introduced in 2005 and supported by multiple search engines) to annotate a link to tell search engines “I can’t or don’t want to vouch for this link.” In Google, nofollow links don’t pass PageRank and don’t pass anchortext[*].

I would say the first-order of things to pay attention to are 1) making great content that will attract links in the first place, and 2) choosing a site architecture that makes your site usable/crawlable for humans and search engines alike.

For example, it makes a much bigger difference to make sure that people (and bots) can reach the pages on your site by clicking links.

Re: HTML Question

Is this about the link or is it a way to introduce text to be registered by the search engine and therefore findable by googlling but not be accessible by a human reading the page?

Re: HTML Question

That used to be an old trick, like repetition and extraneous stuff in the metadata. You'd advertise your sex site by putting in loads of invisible text. Does that crap still work?

Its not about the link. The design I want so far Ive only been able to apply to the page by scripting onto the image Ive chosen but googles bots dont read images in complete context.
I dont want the HTML visible to humans but I do want the HTML content to be picked up by the bots so I was wondering if it can be buried yet still read by the search engines.

Thank you for your time.

Re: HTML Question

It's scored as cheating by google. It leaves the site lower in the rankings than it would without the text.

Yes you can put text on a page white-on-white and you can cover text by a graphic. You can even cover black-on-white text by a graphic.

The way a page is displayed is up to the browser, not the server. If the browser is set to ignore your white-on-white command, or to ignore your graphic, then the text will appear on the browser screen. I quite often have my browser set to ignore server colour and layout commands and so do a lot of other web users.

Instead of saying "this is my tactic, will it work", try saying "this is my strategy, how can I implement it". I take it your objective is to get high ranking on google search?

Yes.
Right now Im recieving replies based on where I live which is the outskirts of the metro area. I dont know if thats because of my ISP location or what but what I need is to get mixed in with the same searches that companies that are actually based in the cities. Thats where the business is.

At a guess that's not business generated directly by your website, it's business generated by the Internet Yellow Page business directories. People say "show me a plumber, my zip is 32882-3014" or they key in their address and they get a list of plumbers sorted by distance, the closest first. The business directories all have you in their database because of your company registration, and your company registration carries your location, and even if you now changed your company registration address to Minnesota Street it would be a year or two before the yellow pages listing agencies caught up.

Do you want me to think of ways to fix it?

Are you capable of not doing? Or did you mean "may"?
