Re: Let's Get the Facts About the Economy
Gas went up for me, and tax on biodeisel and the EPA regulations... stopped my green biodeisel production.
The plastic sheeting I use for the biz almost doubled, when I asked why the supplier said that the company that manufactures it decided to change thier line to eliminate the thinkness I use, so I had to actually go thicker or thinner... thinner costs mer about 1/3 more, thinker costs me about 1/2 again more... it obvious they changed the line as a prfit management scheme rather than a true ecomoical supply issue, they speculated an up price cause they thought they coudl get away with it... so I changed suppliers got the stuff I used to use delivered in bulk for 1/ 4 less cost. My chemicals went up slightly for a bit then dropped back down. I beneiftted greatly fomr the down turn in the houseing market, acuireing three properties at more than half thier prvious price and I still say it was outrageously over inflated for what I got. I think the world economy was balloned by speculation, its settleing to more like what it shoudl be and I think will keep settling for some time to come. Fresh produce is up in the market, which makes local growers rich, and the food is better too. Folks are figuring out there is more competition out there than previously thought... Its all normal supply and demand here to me. |

I did discover one more increase... my gas and electric bill has gone up, both gas and electric, but I also discovered that my carreir (Pacific Gas and Electric) donated $800,000.00 to a political group in favor of gay marraige. I will be finding a way to not use P-GAYand-E, as soon as I do I will share that with everybody I know. In the meantime I am encouraging everybody I know that is agaisnt the gay marriage agenda in CA to stuff a note in thier bills, which requires them to be processed manually... I want them to know how much it annoys me that they get into social politics having nothing to do with energy issues. Solar/Wind, on my own grid asap. To stay on topic... I noticed after not eating out very much anymore that fast food has gone up... mcdonalds is cheapining thier dollar menu by just putting one slice of 'cheese' on a double cheeseburger and calling it a 'double burger with cheese', or raising the price to $1.20... Thats easy to get around though, an apple is still much cheaper and far more healthy than a double cheese burger. So far the only thing I cant get around is the increase in fuel, and its been coming down... I'm doign what I can though, I'm in a campaign to oust pelosi, boxer, feintstein and miller for not immediatly advocating for oil drilling in the US. |

Re: Let's Get the Facts About the Economy
The company where my father works had major cutbacks in production. They layed off a lot of people. My dad still has a job, but he had to move down to a lower paying job, which increases stress on paying the bills.

Re: Let's Get the Facts About the Economy
Everything is just fine at this point. Retirement accounts are all back to where they were before the market went south and day to day living is the same as before the economic crisis. As a retiree I have two main concerns. One, inflation and the effect on fixed incomes. I anticipate a big, big increase and will have to reevaluate my personal investment strategy. Second, making sure that my wife and I do not outlive our assets.
