Russia: dad puts hit on daughter

AN Azeri immigrant in Russia's northern city of Saint Petersburg has been charged with hiring hit men to kill his 21-year-old daughter for wearing a mini-skirt, police said today.

The man's arrest follows the detention last week of two other citizens of Azerbaijan, a majority Muslim state in the Caucasus, who confessed to murdering the girl, a university medical student.

“They admitted to being paid 100,000 rubles ($4140) by the girl's father. They said he wanted to punish his daughter for flouting national traditions and wearing a mini-skirt,” a police source told said today.

The girl was abducted on the street in Russia's second city on March 8, taken to the outskirts of Saint Petersburg and then shot twice in the head, the source said.

Russia has experienced a revival of conservative religious tradition since the fall of the Soviet Union both within its Russian Orthodox and large Muslim communities.

The Saint Petersburg Mosque – the largest and northernmost in Europe when it was built in 1913 – now counts mostly migrants from ex-Soviet Azerbaijan among its worshippers.

Okay I realise the first thought is that they are muslim.

BUT

I don't think this has anything to do with it to be honest.
It's just the excuse.
Firstly this man has a lovely daughter who is obviously intelligent enough to be studying Medicine. (back in the old country she'd be herding sheep)
She's twenty one and becoming independent.
In my eyes she has a control freak for a father who rules with an iron fist. But like most Bullies he's actually a coward.
The barstard couldn't even do the deed himself but had to high thugs to do it for him. It makes me wonder if he told everybody she was abducted because she was cursed by western society and looked like a tramp? well this would actually be true in this case because she was abducted because she was wearing a mini skirt. But not by some idiot sex freak....................instead by the one person who would normally be protecting her from idiot sex freaks.

I think in this case it's a case of jealousy. The daughter is more intelligent than her father. She has a very good future in medicine. She probably has seen more of the world than him ..................................and he hates it..........He can't control a girl who wants to be what he is not.

I heard a blurb on Moscows russian radio. Seems the guy was being transferred to a special cell in the prison and he fell down several flights of stairs and ended up in the infirmary.

That says a lot to me about the lack of professionalism in the Russian police but then I am not going to complain.

My worst punishment for dis-obeying my father was to have my Rolling Stones records confiscated..... ouch!!

2nd worse was having to clean out and polish all the open fire grates in the house.

3rd worse was being forced to accompany him to cricket matches on a sunday instead of being allowed out with my mates.
