Mao's Last Dancer

I snuck off with a few friends this morning and we went to the movies. Saw Mao's Last Dancer - which is awesome. T
There's an except here

Oh Pam,

This movie looks wonderful. Will try to see it or rent it when it's on DVD.

I also have Dogma in my netflix queue....This weekend I'm going to watch
Grey Gardens...looks interesting.

I don't know that film, Kathy - just looked at your link and then a few others though. I'll be interested to hear how you went with it. Interesting.

Saw it last saturday Pammy wasn't it a lovely film. At one point after the "major performance" I almost applauded. God I felt like a twit, but I thought it so beautiful and got a bit carried away.
Can I ask how you felt about the final shot of the film? does it look familiar to you? From a historical pictorial sense?

Absolutely. The two dancers arms outstretched toward the future in heroic pose with the red flag in the background. Lenin? A vodka commercial? Where???????? Statue somewhere??? All of the above???
