    hello

    Hello everyone!
New to forum. Would like advice. Is it safe to trim my hydrangea, for it is blocking sun
    from my peony.

    Re: hello

We are, I foresee, about to have an innuendo masterclass.

Perhaps you could post photos, madam.

    Re: hello

Well it probably depends on how often you have trimmed your hydrangeas in the past and also the actual size of your peony.

    Re: hello

All Hydranga's can benefit from a good hard prune once a year around October after flowering has finished. Take down to just above an offshoot and It will be fine.

    Re: hello

I don't think this post is actually about gardening ... or is it? Well this is Forum Garden, however ....

Compliments of Wikipedia: "A euphemism is a generally innocuous word or expression used in place of one that may be found offensive or suggest something unpleasant.] Some euphemisms are intended to amuse, while others use bland, inoffensive, and often misleading terms for things the user wishes to dissimulate or downplay. Euphemisms are used for dissimulation, to refer to taboo topics (such as disability, sex, excretion, and death) in a polite way, and to mask profanity. The opposite of euphemism roughly equates to dysphemism."

The benefit of the doubt always stands with the newbie. It's a rule.

Beyond that, consider: although your mind is capable of extracting double entendre from the opening post, you have no good reason to believe the poster was aware of the possibility. I, on the other hand, was more than able by post #2 to guarantee that some people on this board would be making hay from it.

So long as the newbie ends up believing you're polite, all's well. Surely you can at least fool the newbies, JJ.
