I find that I am most energenic & awake the next morning after about "6" or so hours sleep. If I sleep much more than that, then I seem to be more tired!
What are the average hours sleep others require not to have sleep Depravation? ![]()

Re: "Sleep Depravation"
Six hours on average, like yourself cars anymore & i feel worse than before i went to bed.
My best sleeps are when i catnap, i can sometimes feel fantastic after a 10 minute nap, opposed to 6 straight hours. Winston Churchill reputedly never slept, just catnapped 10 mins here & there & he lived to a ripe old age. I'd much rather have quality than quantity any day. ![]() |

Re: "Sleep Depravation"
It depends on the quality of those hours. I think 6 to 7 hours of good quality sleep beats 12 hours of iffy sleep.
Differnt people have different sleep needs. I don't function well if I don't get 7 hours. My work kept me over two days in a row. Before that I was alternating between 4 and 12 hours a day. After that I spent a year in sleep Dep mode on about 4 hours a day which is not good at all for me. And the new 12 hour schedule is even more of a challenge to get good sleep. |

Re: "Sleep Depravation"
hi! i live on sleep deprivation...we work 12 hour shifts, and by the third one are legless from exhaustion. so when we get a day off all any of us wants to do is sleep. it's all so uneven and irregular. and often we work our days off as well. so the average workday , or night, i get about 4 hours and wake up tired. i feel the effects deeply, and during the worst of the hurricanes we were activated , not allowed to go home for days, had to "sleep" in the county jail. i ended up in hospital ICU with pneumonia, and i am a very strong healthy person normally. my concern about sleep deprivation is that it can render us unsafe on the job. being alert is of utmost importance. our reward is a three-day weekend sometimes, mine just begun, but i slept all day, too tired to think of Christmas shopping or other errands. maybe tomorrow. oh...they can send a cruiser out to get us to work on our days off too! i don't answer the door, have a mat out there that says "not without a warrant" LOL .... many other deputies that i talk to say they don't feel like Christmas , simply as a result of sleep deprivation.

Re: "Sleep Depravation"
As a working student, I'm lucky if I can get 5 hours of sleep at night and - let me tell you - this is certainly not enough. By the time Friday rolls around, I am too groggy from a week's worth of too little sleep to do much.

Usually I get around 5-6 hours of sleep every night during the week and about 8-9 on weekends. But i found no matter how much or how less sleep i get i am ALWAYS tired! When i was 17-19 i used to pull all nighters.. Like stay up 5 days and sleep one and i was fine. I try to do that but my finacee yells at me to get in bed and go to sleep. LOL. I think i would rather sleep on & off all day and stay up all night. I don't know i am so confused! Susie

Re: "Sleep Depravation"
At the moment I'm lucky to get 4-5 hours, I need at least 7-8 hours.
Due to my lack of sleep at the moment my vision is more blurred than normal, my back is stiff and I'm no use for anything.
