Re: Women Drivers!

Never mind bad drivers, how about bad posters, I replied the below to the wrong thread...
anyway: Try Try again:

When looking at the raw data of how many accidents men get into vs women you are correct, but you cannot look at that way because there are more men drivers on the roads than women and they drive more miles and longer hours.
So when you look at it more statistical as in number of accidents per mile driven, sorry ladies, men are better. Men: 5.1 accidents per mill miles, women 5.7 accidents per mill miles

Men vs Women Drivers?

New info:

There is no victory here, in the USA 40,000 lives are lost on the roads each year. Can you imagine the outcry if this was the number of soldiers being killed?

In Ireland New Years morning the following was reported: 3 teens dead 2 critical:

Boy (16) behind wheel as three friends killed - National News, Frontpage - Independent.ie

Re: Women Drivers!

I learned and grew up with a manual transmission. I was a mechanic/manager at a car rental company for 7yrs. I LOVE working on vehicles and getting all dirty and oily...yes, tomboy here and proud of it! I can drive about anything and am not afraid to try to drive anything new.

Hubby is a scary driver...at least he scares the hell outta me. He's had accidents and tickets...quite a few. I, on the other hand, have never had an accident, never had a ticket and have never been pulled over. At 44 that's quite an accomplishment. (yes, I'm knocking on wood!!)

I taught both my daughters to drive and they are both excellent drivers...hubby taught his daughter and she drives just like him.

I'm rarely on the cell phone while driving, I tell people I'll call them back, and if it's something really important I'll pull over somewhere.

I do get PO'ed at idiot drivers tho, I don't have much patience with them at all.

i have gotten one ticket in my life and i was driving my mom's car and she had let her inspection sticker run out! she tried to tell him to give her the ticket since it was her car, but he said since i was driving he had to give it to me!

Re: Women Drivers!

Actually, I was thinking about this a bit more and here are some interesting facts.

In the USA there are 196,165,667 licensed drivers.
There are 40,000 deaths due to road accidents per year. This works out to be 0.02% of drivers killed each year.

In Iraq there are 200,645 US soldiers deployed. On average there have been 536 soldiers killed each year which is 0.26%.

Therefore it is only marginally safer to drive on the roads in the USA than it is to fight in Iraq.

I guess to it would depend where you are here in the US, out here in the rural areas it's safer i think because it's fewer cars to deal with. I know I went to Washington D.C. once and that traffic scared me half to death!
