This thread was started due to an influx of people joining up purposely to advertise, they all got locked out fairly quickly as it's against our rules, or they are returning members who have previously been banned and shouldn't be here anyway!

It does help to allay suspicion, if a new member should put a little bit of 'about myself' and the country from which they are writing from. Most of the spammers put no info at all in their profiles, so of course moderators will keep an eye on them.
It's not a case of 'Big Brother', it's just a case of trying to keep Forum Garden from becoming a free-for-all for people trying to gain free advertising space, which is not being fair to those who do pay for advertising space, don't you think?
