If you thought the one before last caused a storm... the last caused a riot... then this caused a revolution when caught in a secret location on the River Avon this afternoon.

Barbel Hunters are extremely secretive and will not even pose for a pic where a particular tree or branch may give their location away. I know exactly where this was caught and for the right sum of money, I will grass.

Is there one particular twig you recognize or is it that that bush is the only one in the world or what?

I know exactly where he went as Mr O was meant to go as well but was not feeling well. They are going back there tomorrow and I hope to post a bigger fish that Pete has caught.

My son and his best friend have just looked at that barbel. Their reaction - 'Bloody hell, that's a very big barbel ! I bet it put up a hell of a fight before it was landed !
How much did it weight? etc. etc............................ by the way, my son's friend recognised the third grass blade from the right !

I can't imagine what they'd taste like, but in retrospect that's why I ask.

But I looked up "Barbel" and they're a relative species of carp.

We got the full details of the fight she put up from Mr O's pal on the fishing forum and she certainly gave him a run.
A newbie on the forum once posted his pic that showed a tree that could Identify the area and swim. The mods tore down the post and he got a severe warning. I must say Gill, that normally my eyes glaze over when they talk about angling but I love these fish. They are like torpedo's in the water and the pic doesn't reflect the true Irredescent golden colour of them.
As you know, Pete is not in the best of health so the guy in the pic has met up with him early this morning to try to find another at the exact same location. Today, Pete's using a bait of Spam coated in chilli and curry powder. Due to Pete's health, they have rigged up some nonsence of a climbing rope Incase he can't get back up the bank. Don't laugh Oscar,

That's Intersting Kev as we have a right old barney going on at present with the Enviromental Agencies here who keep re-intoducing Otters into the area. I'm all for It but they are Barbel hunters enemies as Barbel are an Otters favourite snack.
The EA is arguing that the Barbel is not an Indiginous Briton ( A little like the British National Party membership Policy), but allegedly, the Otter is British Indiginous and got there first. The debate continue's.
